Joyful Ventures A Mission of Joy More Than a Breast Cancer Non-Profit
Joyful Ventures is more than just a breast cancer non profit; we are a community of hope based in Lubbock, Texas. Founded in 2017, our organization was born from a family’s personal journey through loss and a steadfast refusal to let disease have the final word. After losing Brianna Weikel to breast cancer in 2015 and Barclay Weikel in 2017 to Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). The founders, Billy and Briley Weikel, turned their grief into a mission: to ensure that no other family has to walk through the darkness of disease alone. Today, we work tirelessly to spread hope to those who need it most.
Raising Awareness & Funding Research
Our work as a breast cancer non profit is focused on two pillars: awareness and action. While we are deeply committed to the fight against breast cancer, our hearts also belong to the fight against Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH), a rare disease that took the life of young Barclay Weikel. By hosting high-energy community events like our Annual 5K and Family Joy-Walk, we raise vital funds that support research and prevention for both of these life-altering conditions. We believe that by collaborating with like-minded organizations, we can create a world where these diseases are prevented and eventually cured.
Education & Community Support
Because we understand the long-term impact of losing a loved one, this breast cancer non profit is expanding its reach to the next generation. We are proud to facilitate a scholarship program specifically for high school seniors and recent graduates who have lost a parent. Whether they are entering a university or a vocational trade school, these scholarships provide the financial boost and community encouragement they need to succeed. Our vision is to be a consistent source of joy and stability for students who have faced the ultimate hardship.
